Frogwares has officially launched pre-orders for its highly anticipated Lovecraftian sequel, The Sinking City 2. Alongside a new gameplay trailer titled “Provisions of Sanity,” the developer detailed the game’s release editions, pre-order bonuses, and a competitive pricing strategy designed to challenge the standard $70 premium pricing tier.

Unlike the detective-focused 2019 original set in Oakmont, this sequel pivots directly into a survival horror experience set in the drowned ruins of Arkham. Players must navigate flooded streets, manage scarce resources, and confront eldritch threats when the game launches on August 18, 2026.

Under-Cutting the Competition: Pricing and Release Date

In an unexpected move for a modern Unreal Engine 5 title, Frogwares announced that the Standard Edition of The Sinking City 2 will retail at $49.99 (£41.35) on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The pricing strategy is reportedly a deliberate effort by the studio to make their premium survival horror title more accessible and undercut major publishers in the genre.

The official release is set for August 18, 2026, though certain editions grant early access to the drowned city.

Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Editions Compared

The digital storefront listings confirm three distinct tiers for players looking to secure their copy ahead of the release date and platforms launch:

  • Standard Edition ($49.99 / £41.35): Includes the base game. Pre-ordering this edition (or any other) unlocks the Chthonic Arsenal DLC for free, adding three unique weapons to the player’s starting inventory: the “Shale Mary” handgun, “Breakwater” shotgun, and “Tektite Tommy” SMG.
  • Deluxe Edition ($54.99): Includes the base game, the pre-order bonuses (if purchased early), and the Arkham Field Kit. The kit features three cosmetic outfits (“The Anatomist,” “The Witness,” and “Heretic Heraldry”), three Dream Essences to unlock early Talents, and a starting Resource Pack containing ammunition, healing items, and crafting components.
  • Premium Edition ($59.99): Includes all Deluxe Edition content, 24-hour advanced access to the full game starting August 17, 2026, and the exclusive Holloway Manor DLC.

Holloway Manor Side Quest and Exclusive Weapons

The Holloway Manor DLC included in the Premium Edition is expected to be a major selling point for lore enthusiasts. Reportedly offering roughly two hours of additional gameplay, this side quest tasks players with investigating a decrepit mansion cursed by its family’s occult history.

Players who successfully complete the Holloway Manor investigation will be rewarded with the “Bucking Bronco” revolver for use in the main game campaign.

It is currently unconfirmed by Frogwares whether the Holloway Manor DLC or the weapons from the Chthonic Arsenal will be purchasable separately post-launch, leaving community members to speculate on whether these items will remain locked behind premium editions indefinitely.

A Darker Turn for Arkham

The “Provisions of Sanity” trailer highlights the game’s grim aesthetic and provides more context on the protagonist, Calvin Rafferty. After a dream-bound ritual goes wrong, Calvin’s partner Faye is left trapped in a supernatural coma. The quest to wake her forces Calvin into the dangerous, flooded sectors of Arkham where he must scavenge for supplies and fight off horrors like the Slither.
